We’re listing some famous sports celebrity moms who are currently in the Vancouver Winter Olympics and getting into the general Olympic spirit!

From Colorado comes slalom skier Sarah Schleper, who’s vying for gold in Vancouver, her fourth Olympics games.  Sarah Schleper and husband Federico Gaxiola gave birth to their son Lasse back in January of 2008, however, the Olympic skier didn’t slouch at all after having her baby.  Super future mom, Sarah Schleper (“the hardest working mommy on snow”) trained until she was 8 ½ months pregnant.  Sarah’s dedication doesn’t stop there, she got back into speed skiing shape only forty some days after giving birth, simply amazing.

Noelle Pikus Pace for Skeleton Race:

Utah gives us, Noelle Pikus Pace, who recently took off the 2007-2008 season to have her celebrity baby girl, Lacee.

It takes a village for Noelle Pikus Pace however, as her husband, Noelle’s mom, and sister all help care for the Olympian’s baby daughter, Lacee.  Noelle Pikus Pace says:

“It has its moments when it’s really, really difficult, and it has its moments when it’s really great, I think the biggest challenge with it is just leaving obviously for months at a time and not having my daughter with me and trying to go out there and focus 100% on my competitions and then knowing she is back at home. But it’s been really rewarding, and I wouldn’t have it any other way … She’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

Noelle doesn’t want to keep this up however, as she wants to spend more time with her little bundle of joy:

“It’s just been a long journey, and I was planning on retiring after 2006…I want to be home and raise Lacee and have more kids, so I will be done after Vancouver.”

Being a celebrity mother athlete has provided opportunity for Noelle as one of her big sponsors is Pampers.  Go Noelle!

Jenny Potter for U.S. Hockey:

This hockey mom of a different sort, has two kids and is on the U.S. Hockey Team for her fourth time.  the hockey mom has a gold from 1998, silver from 2002, and bronze in 2006.  Jenny Potter was reportedly back on the ice after only 3 months since the birth of her second child, winning the World Championships.  She was also the highest scoring player in that game but says that it was a “struggle,” as she happened to be 20 pounds overweight.

Her kids are nine-year-old Madison and three year old Cullen, both of whom will be cheering for mom in Vancouver.

Natalie Nicholson, Allison Pottinger, and Tracy Sachtjen on The U.S. Curling Team:

Pottinger has two children, (Lauren born October 2006 and Kelsey born August 2008.). Nicholson has one daughter (Stella born August 2008). The oldest U.S. athlete at this year’s games is 40-year-old Sachtjen. Tracy Sachtjen is mom to a teenager and a 9 year old (Daughter Sierra was born December 1993 and Son Desmon who was born Aug 2000).

Who says the modern woman can’t have it all?  The modern Olympic woman certainly seems to be doing okay!
