A lifelong chain smoker, Australian actor and celebrity father, Russell Crowe says he finally kicked the bad habit after his son caught him sneaking a cigarette!
“I was smoking 40 on an easy day, but on a day when I would be up at 4am and still up at midnight, then it was 60-plus and it just got to the point where my body was telling me I had to stop,” the Gladiator and L.A. Confidential star says.
Russell Crowe somehow managed to hide his bad habit from his children Charlie who’s 7, and Tennyson who’s 4 years-old, for years. But when Charlie caught him with a smoke in hand, Russell Crowe says it provided with the motivation he needed to quit.
“The reality break was that my kids never saw me smoke. I was in my office and I thought I heard my office door open and I looked around and couldn’t see anything, so I had my cigarette. Later on I leant over to put my cigarette out and he was lying between the couch and the table and he very definitely saw me having a smoke. And that was my very last one.”
The 46 yr old Oscar-winner is planning on sticking close to home this year to focus on his celebrity family. He continues saying:
“I don’t want to get on a plane again this year…I want again to take a step back and put a normal rhythm back into the kids’ lives.”
Russell Crowe should feel like one proud celebrity papa taking his responsibilities as a dad more seriously! We’re so proud of the Australian tough guy now that he’s showing his soft side!
